Our Bairnsdale Lions Club members, along with family, had a delightful visit to the Lions Village at Licola, Vic. The township of Licola is owned entirely by the Lions Clubs of Victoria and Southern New South Wales. The greater part of the township is occupied by the Licola Wilderness Village, which consists of 16 cabins and a range of activity equipment and outdoor facilities. For more than 37 years Licola Wilderness Village has run camps for disadvantaged children and special needs groups, mostly held during the school holidays. The Village also hosts school camps and other group gatherings throughout the year. Bairnsdale Lions Club looks after and maintains Cabin #6. Some of the funds raised through our various fundraisers goes towards maintaining the Village as well as Cabin 6. Funds are also used to sponsor disadvantaged children so they can attend the camp.
